Dr. Pretsky works as a psychiatrist at the Barrington Psychiatric Center. He has conducted forensic evaluations involving a wide range of traumas from severe and disabling physical injuries to work place/sexual harassment and wrongful termination. Dr. Pretsky has experience evaluating patients suffering complex somatic disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, neuropsychiatric disorders and Anxiety and Mood Disorders. He has successfully identified patients who tend to malinger or over exaggerate their symptoms. Over the course of his training and practice, Dr. Pretsky has worked with post-operative patients suffering delirium and alterations in cognitive function; patients who experience behavioral agitation, delusions and hallucinations while in Intensive Care; patients whose depression detrimentally impacts their motivation and energy to actively engage in rehabilitative programs, and patients whose psychological conflicts and defenses are exacerbated by their loss of autonomy while hospitalized. Forensic clients receive the benefit of this broad clinical exposure when working with Dr. Pretsky. Aside from his work at BPC, Dr. Pretsky has an appointment at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute and Hospital as a clinical instructor. He is on the medical staff at UCLA Santa Monica Hospital, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and St. John's Hospital. Dr. Pretsky completed his residency in Psychiatry at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, where he received the Pfizer Resident of the Year Award and the Horowitz Award for Clinical Excellence. Dr. Pretsky is a certified member of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and has his certification as a Qualified Medical Examiner in the State of California.
