David Frederic Zakin, Ph.D., QME

Dr. David Zakin is a senior psychologist at the Barrington Psychiatric Center (BPC). In addition to conducting medical-legal evaluations and providing psychological treatment, he has served as the Barrington Center’s treatment director.

With a clinical specialty in post-traumatic stress disorder, Dr. Zakin has taught workshops and conducted training on the diagnosis and treatment of this psychological condition. For many years Dr. Zakin served as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute. He has also taught graduate level psychotherapy courses at the California School of Professional Psychology.

As an expert witness with extensive experience, Dr. Zakin has testified on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants. The civil cases in which he has been retained involve a range of issues, including personal injury, sexual harassment, wrongful termination, long-term disability, post-traumatic stress disorder and racial discrimination. Attorneys appreciate his ability to communicate often complex psychological findings in clear, concise language that juries can understand.

Dr. Zakin received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Michigan in 1986. In 1987 he completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Dr. Zakin is a qualified medical examiner and a diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Medicine and the American Board of Forensic Examiners.
