Workers' Compensation

Over the past 25 years, the Barrington Psychiatric Center (BPC) has provided the highest standard of Workers’ Compensation services to insurance companies, law firms and self-insured employers. Our clinical staff has completed an extensive training program that emphasizes an understanding of the AOE/COE issues involved in the California Workers’ Compensation system. We specialize in QME and AME evaluations and a full range of treatment services. We founded the first trauma response team for work place incidents.

The BPC clinical staff has many years of experience in treating genuine work injuries, and in writing clear, ratable and timely AOE/COE reports. This combination of skills provides adjusters and attorneys the ability to manage psychologically based claims in a cost effective and efficient manner.

BPC’s reputation as a premier treatment center rests on our creation of goal-oriented, focused, short term treatment, designed to enable injured workers to return to work and to maximum functional capacity as soon as possible. BPC treaters make it a priority to maintain written and telephone contact with the case manager to assure them that treatment is under control.

In 2003, BPC provided Workers’ Compensation services to over 900 claimants who had been referred from 125 different sources. Each year we also conduct many Agreed Medical Examinations. We take great pride in the thoroughness of all our examinations.

Our AME clinicians always document their opinions and ratings with evidence based on behavioral (objective) sources. For each opinion we provide the evidence for it. We then specify what information the attorneys could develop that would potentially impact the findings. Reporting on the case in this way has been extremely helpful to all parties. We have been advised by attorneys and judges that this approach has been very effective in reducing the number of depositions required in our AME cases.

BPC has been advised that not only the attorneys but also the claimants (who often tell us that finally someone understands me) feel fairly treated, which adds to our good reputation at the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Boards.
